Closing the 61,001 open tabs in my daggone mind
A Neurodivergent Ritual for August 15, or whenever you have the spoons.
Each time you complete a ritual, your nervous system becomes more capable, and your energy is better alchemized to work in your favor.
You only need a couple rituals a week to reap the benefits.
🪄 Here’s a ritual for today:
Meditation can feel very whack for neurodivergents.
Some reasons why:
Meditation doesn’t help us “chill out”
Meditation is useless during a meltdown and suggesting that we do it mid-meltdown is insulting.
Imagine what exactly?
Some of the imagery that we’re asked to imagine during a guided meditation is confusing- I’ve spent entire meditations trying to decode some piece of imagery that makes no logical sense to me.
Racing thoughts
Our minds often have 64,000 tabs open so it can feel hard or impossible to quiet the mind.
Accessibility
Some meditative positions are not comfortable or not possible
…and other adventures
These are just a few reasons. Share yours in the comments!
Although meditation can feel oh so neurotypical, it’s our neurodivergent brains that need consistent regulation the most- so I create regulating rituals with our brains in mind.
I loooove creating practices that use somatics and movement and voice and yes, I create meditations too- like today’s cityscape meditation.
But it’s important to remember that you should not try this (or any other meditation) when you feel zig zaggy. Do it when you feel neutral, or good, or when you’re uncomfortable but you have the capacity to get curious about the discomfort.
Here are the rules:
Get comfortable in whatever position works best for you. You won’t be closing your eyes today.
Press play and choose a stationary element in the video - a building, a window, a boat on the water. Observe this for as long as you can. I recommend at least 2 minutes, but this is your practice. Adjust as needed.
As you look, notice all the details: colors, textures, reflections, shadows, movement around it.
Break the rules to make it your own 😈 You can stim freely while you observe. You can switch your focus to another element in the cityscape at any time. You can choose to watch on mute if it improves the experience, or play your own favorite music in the background. Do what feels good to you.
This is the view from my downtown Baltimore apartment. I love to sit in my living room, turn on chill music, and find something in view to focus on. It helps my mind slow down and my body relax, and doing this for just a couple of minutes a couple times a day is so. freaking. regulating.
Let me know if there’s a certain kind of practice you’d like me to create for the coven and, if it feels good, I’ll bring it to life. Okay this has been a lot of yapping. loveyoubye.

I absolutely love seeing others breaking the “meditation rules”! Humans make so many rules and suggest if they aren’t followed we aren’t doing it right. Thank you for giving voice to this! Lovely read! 🙏🏼✨🤍 Just found you and glad to be connected! 🫶🏼
This is excellent thank you
